  • Amazing iOS Features that will Benefit your Business

Amazing iOS Features that will Benefit your Business

Apple has announced several revolutionary measures stretching across enterprise IT, developer and consumer spheres.

Among the features is an interesting one known as continuity. This feature allows you to start a given activity on one device and complete it on another. This means you can start working on a document on your iPad and finish it on a Windows PC. Any changes made from one of your devices are replicated on all the others.

Other interesting features are he HomeKit and HealthKit platforms which depend on a range of technologies to incorporate personal data and functionality, that is, your health and your home. Although both do not have an instant enterprise impact, both make iOS devices, such as an iPhone, more personal than they have been in the past.

The incorporation of the HomeKit and the HealthKit, though largely accepted, have their own fair share of concerns. For instance, users are more concerned on what information IT professionals or employees can access or see on a managed device. In view of this concern, Apple has designed features that protect user privacy as they have done with iOS 7. In addition, with iOS 8, the policy has to change from full wiping to wiping only the corporate data. This will prevent wiping off of the user’s personal data.

The introduction of Mail Drop and iCloud Drive is big news to OS X, the iCloud interface, and iOS. The Mail Drop is a welcome addition to iCloud as it has the ability to load huge attachments automatically into your iCloud account.

Other features that you stand to enjoy with the new iOS 8 include AirDrop, Auto-Hotspot, iOS app extensions, and Markup, among others.

Apple currently dominated the enterprise mobility space and it seems it will remain so for a long time to come.

    4SeTV

A new TV streaming device from 4SeTV lets you watch any four live television shows at once on a tablet, smartphone or TV. Alternatively, up to four people can view an individual live show of their choice on four different devices, at the same time.

Built on patent pending technology, 4SeTV uses over-the-air broadcasting and streams the HD content you want to see to your connected devices in your home network. It is said to be the first-ever device that lets you select and watch four channels on the same screen.

4SeTV hooks up to your HDTV antenna and connects to your router with an Ethernet cable. From there, simply switch the box on and go, at the push of a button.

    How it works:

    • Content is broadcast (i.e. free HDTV content over-the-air, clear QAM)
    • It is captured by an antenna and relayed to the 4SeTV device
    • Broadcast content is captured by the 4SeTV device
    • 4SeTV streams the content to connected devices in your home network (smartphones, tablets and TVs)

4SeTV is now at the production unit stage and conducted live demonstrations of its device at the Showstoppers media event held yesterday at the NAB show in Las Vegas.

  • LG Curved Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs Finding Their way to US

LG Curved Ultra HD 4K OLED TVs Finding Their way to US

    lg-4k-curved-oled-tv

After the showcasing of the Curved Ultra HD 4K OLED TV at IFA 2014, LG is this week showcasing it once more at CEDIA Expo. However, this time round it is bringing good news – the 65-inch model will be available in the market in October, while the 77-inch model will be available in November.

Before IFA, LG had introduced the 65EC9700 and the 77EG900, the two TVs that attempt to join two TV markets: the 4K OLED and the curved screens displays. Curved TV screens are relatively new in the market but they are already turning heads and getting good sales.

While the OLED technology is not new in the market, LG’s giant TV screen is the first of its kind bearing an Ultra HD resolution.

LG is also flaunting its WRGB, the “W” meaning a fourth white subpixel. This is in addition to the common green, red, and blue. This increases the TV’s brightness, which is quite useful having in mind that the OLED has no backlighting.

The OLED displays are also considerably thinner than the LCDs, thus giving LG’s displays both curves and thinness. In addition to the pixel densities and the attractive outward appearance, these TVs are smart TVs as they have WebOS on the metal.

The 65-inch 65EC9700 will be going for $9,999, while the 77-inch 77EG9700 will be retailing at $24,999.

While the 65-inch model will be available nationwide, the 77-inch TV set will be available in selected retailers.

  • IFA 2014: Samsung To Incorporate Netflix and Amazon 4K Ultra HD TV Apps

IFA 2014: Samsung To Incorporate Netflix and Amazon 4K Ultra HD TV Apps

    samsung-netflix-amazon-ud-hdtv

Samsung are partnering up with Netflix, Amazon, Maxdome, Chili, and Wuaki.tv with the intent of incorporating loads of 4K Ultra HD content to their smart TVs. The South Korean electronics giant is expected to launch Amazon’s Ultra HD service in October. Meanwhile, Netflix’s 4K app is going to be stretched to Europe later this year, making a debut with “House of Cards”, the political drama.

Samsung also reinforced its cooperation with major European content partners, including maxdome, Wuaki.tv, and CHILI “to secure more UHD content to work towards a more robust UHD ecosystem.”

According to the visual display’s executive vice president at Samsung’s electronics, Won Jin Lee, the UHD era has begun making it important to provide customers with more options as far as the UHD content goes. This will help in continuing the widespread adoption of UHD content. Won further added that Samsung offers its consumers with a wider range of UHD content for them to enjoy on their immersive Curved Ultra HD TVs.

This is definitely not Samsung’s first venture into the 4K UHD content market. Prior to World Cup, Samsung partnered up with Portugal Telecom and with RTP, the Portuguese broadcaster to show live warm-up matches employing the MEO content service on 4K TVs across the world.

The next big step for the excellent quality TV revolution is to come up with a secure UHD content distribution solution with the SCSA (Secure Content Storage Association). Samsung is working with SCSA’s founding partners including Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Western Digital, and ScanDisk and have sprung a 500GB external hard drive which is pre-loaded with 40 tiles having 4K picture quality that includes ‘life of Pi’ and ‘ Star Trek Into Darkness’.
