  • Onkyo Launches Home Theater Packages for Blu-ray and HD Video Systems


    Onkyo has introduced two new 7.1-channel home theater systems that it claims deliver leading edge AV processing and surround sound reproduction for HDTV and Blu-ray.

    The HT-S7200 and HT-S6200 each feature powerful AV receivers with 1080p-compatible HDMI inputs, 130 watt-per-channel amplification, processing for every major audio format on the market.

    This includes the option of incorporating front height-channel reproduction with Dolby’s newly introduced ProLogic IIz processing.

    Each package also includes a high performance 7.1-channel speaker system with a powerful active subwoofer, and Onkyo’s exclusive U-Port single-cable iPod dock and charging system.

    The Onkyo HT-S7200 and HT-S6200 are now available at suggested retail prices of USD $899 and $699 each, respectively.

    Onkyo has also introduced a new BD-Live interactive Blu-ray Disc Player, model DV-BD507.

    The player delivers high definition 1080p video playback and high resolution multichannel audio over a HDMI 1.3a.

    The Onkyo DV-BD507 is currently available at a suggested retail price of USD $449.

  • Movavi Expands Free Online Media Conversion Service


    Movavi has announced an expansion of its popular online video conversion service.

    The upgraded Online.movavi.com service now enables users to fine tune a number of conversion parameters – codecs, resolution, video and audio quality, bitrate, and other key elements demanded by more sophisticated users.

    The multimedia processing tool developer said all new functionality is accessible through a new Customization link, which opens a separate window, enabling users to make the necessary changes without leaving the main site.

    Natalia Khudyakova, Moscow-based Movavi’s CEO, said the functionality extension is a part of our strategy for the development of Online.movavi.com.

    She said the goal is to create the most fully-functional and easy-to-use free online video conversion service.

    "In line with this goal, we have removed the requirement for users to register with an email address before starting the conversion, and have also added support for HD video," she said.

    Additional enhancements to Online.movavi.com planned for the near future include image manipulation and online storage for users’ media files.

  • SoliCall Broadens Reach of its VoIP Voice Quality Software

    SoliCall has signed three international deals with companies from the UK, US and India for its noise reduction and echo cancellation (AEC) technology.

    The Israel-based provider of software for VoIP solutions, mobile phones and IP PBXs has developed patent pending algorithms for audio improvement.

    Shlomi Simhi, director of marketing for SoliCall, said SoliCall SDK would provide the three companies with features for audio improvement that is suitable for all VoIP applications.

    He said the new clients would be using the software for a variety of uses:

    • a British company will be implementing SoliCall SDK across its new video conferencing servers
    • a New-York based company will be using the technology for its gaming applications
    • an Indian software company will integrate the solution as part of distributed Internet-based multiparty, multimedia interactions for on-line education

    Simhi said the new deals align with SoliCall’s vision to deploy its voice quality solution on any voice platform and to ensure high standards of call quality and reliability.

    "The variety of the companies who will be using our solution both on the client side and on the server side, only emphasizes the on-going demand for our solution," he said.

    SoliCall has developed a personalized voice pass filter that identifies the voice of the speaker and extracts it from the audio signal.

    The company offers a free SoftPhone add-On for private users, which controls the filtering of the incoming audio; live graphs of the audio (before & after filtering); recording options (in WAV or in MP3 format).
