  • VoIP Solutions Provider Codima Expands Operations Into France

Codima has announced the launch of operations in the French market.

The VoIP software tools provider is to offer sales, marketing and support to new and existing resellers throughout France from offices in Paris.

Codima, a Microsoft Certified Partner, delivers an end-to-end solution that helps organizations manage their VoIP and data networks cost efficiently.

Codima’s CEO, Christer Mattsson, said the solution reduces IT costs while improving the end user quality experience.

He said this encourages organizations urgently looking to reduce IT costs to invest in the software based solution.

Commenting on the opening of the new Paris office, he said: "Our strategy is to always act locally, which enables us to adapt to new markets quickly and benefit from local relationships."

Mattsson said Codima develops and markets a solution that is built from the ground up to be VoIP specific, in comparison to other products on the market developed from existing platforms.

According to ARPEC, the French regulator, France had 11.9 million subscribers to a VoIP service in Q1 2008.

This represented 30 per cent of all fixed telephony services and was growing at the rate of 1 million new subscribers per quarter.

The rapidly increasing usage of VoIP technology by French end users indicates an uptake in the market for products managing VoIP networks.

Gheorghe Moga, who will lead the Codima operation in France, said VoIP technology is driving IP communications growth in the French market.

He said the Codima offering responds to the growing demand for ensuring and improving VoIP call quality.

"With in-depth local knowledge and strong channeling support to partners, we are ideally positioned to take advantage of the uptake in VoIP technology usage," he said.

  • C2Call Unveils Updated Browser-based Service

C2Call has launched a second beta of its computer-to-computer service that allows free calls around the world.

The German startup also introduced new APIs – software tools that enable social media sites to add browser-based voice calls to any Web site.

Martin Feuerhahn, CEO of C2Call, said a major appeal of C2C was its simplicity and the fact calls were made direct from the browser.

He said users no longer had to download, install, configure and update special software just to make VoIP calls or just to talk only to users on the same service.

"Instead of tapping out messages to online friends on social media sites, C2Call gets people talking – which helps to increase use of the site," he said.

For users, computer to landline and computer to mobile calls cost from two cents (Euro) per minute, depending on tariffs – and C2Call displays rates when they apply, as that call is made.

There are no connection charges or set-up fees.

C2Call is platform independent. It works by temporarily loading a Java widget into Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox when running under the Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems.

The widget establishes a peer-to-peer voice connection that works behind firewalls.

Codima Inc, a global provider of best practice software tools for VoIP and IT Asset Management, has announced it has entered a partnership agreement with Artiza Networks, Japan’s leading Network and VoIP Testing Solution developer.

To supply the Next Generation Network (NGN) project, Artiza Networks has selected the comprehensive VoIP management solution Codima Toolbox.

Artiza Networks will provide the solution offered by Codima to enable their customers, including leading Japanese IT corporations to build the new Japanese IP-based infrastructure.

The Japanese Next Generation Network (NGN) project requires fundamental investments in infrastructure technology.

Analyst IDC Japan values the network management market alone at US$7.75 billion over the next three years.

To address this significant demand Artiza Networks has decided to select the Codima VoIP Solution and prioritize the project by forming a specific NGN Group.

The group will target the customer base including major system integrators, telecom carriers and telecommunications manufacturers.

Artiza Networks required a comprehensive end-to-end solution to monitor and troubleshoot SIP-based VoIP systems in real time with options for pre-assessment testing and engineer’s kits.

Codima delivers a suite of products that is ideal for these purposes. Specifically Codima’s flagship products autoVoIP, providing robust post-deployment monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure Quality of Service (QoS) and autoMap with its unique capabilities to map and visualize IT networks directly with Microsoft Office Visio are of interest to enable cost efficient VoIP network management.

The ground breaking governmental initiative involving Japan’s leading IT corporations NEC, Fujitsu OKI and Hitachi, transforms Japan’s analogue telephone network into an IP-based infrastructure for unified communications.

According to Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, 100 per cent of the Japanese population will have access to broadband connections by 2010.

The Japanese External Trade Organization Jetro estimates that the converged network market in Japan was worth 59.3 trillion yen (US$485 billion) in 2007 and will balloon to 87.6 trillion yen (US$740 billion) by 2010.

Christer Mattsson, CEO of Codima, said: “We are proud to form a partnership with Artiza Networks, an experienced industry leader in Japan.
“The local partnership will open up channels to resell our products to the NGN project, a governmental initiative of a magnitude that holds unparalleled business opportunities for companies like Codima.”

Takashi Tokonami, CEO of Artiza Networks, said: “Codima Toolbox met our requirements for a comprehensive VoIP management solution.

“Being a supplier to the Japanese network market for almost twenty years, we consider the market is shifting toward Next Generation Network, and it boosts up Codima Toolbox.”
