  • New Rumors About The Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4

Galaxy S3 is still one of the most impressive smartphones released this year, so it is not surprising at all that rumors about the next step to be taken by the South Koreans have already appeared.

The fourth iteration of the Galaxy S terminal would have a screen 4.99-inch screen and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which already seems to be the default standard for the top models scheduled for 2013. According to some Korean sources, Samsung is expected to show at CES 2013 the first HD Super AMOLED panel with this resolution.

As the company did not release any panel with RGB matrix yet, we can assume that we will still be talking about a PenTile screen, but given the new arrangement of subpixels used to make the screen of Galaxy Note 2, with a density of 441 ppi, probably this inconvenience will not bother too much.

The speculated hardware platform is Exynos 5 Quad, the quad-core version of the already-launched dual-core model Exynos 5250, which was implemented in the portable Samsung Chromebook and the tablet Google Nexus 10. Also known as the Exynos 5450, this chip will not seem to see the light of the day as simple quad-core version of the current model, but as an improved version that will also implement an ARM T658 GPU, better than the current version T604.

The third rumor says that the next Samsung Galaxy S4 will offer a 13-megapixel camera, a rumor also heard before the launch of Galaxy Note 2, but which did not come true.

As we all know, the new Galaxy S will be launched somewhere in late spring 2013, during which much can happen in the world of smartphones. But anyway, hopefully we will have a rich year in real flagship releases from both Samsung and the easily-left-behind competition: LG, HTC, Nokia and others.

  • It's Official! Samsung Galaxy S3 to Be Launched on May 3

The smartphone, initially announced at the 2012 Mobile World Congress (MWC 2012) in Barcelona will be presented by the South Korean company on May 3 in London, as the gadget is being promoted as the official smartphone of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Although on the invitation is not specified the launch of the smartphone, international press’ opinion is unanimous, anticipating the launch of the new gadget. Samsung Galaxy S3 will be launched simultaneously in New York, Seoul and Dubai.

The upcoming Galaxy smartphone will probably run Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, rumors say, with the special interface Samsung TouchWiz 4.0. Speculations emerged once with the announcement focused on all its specs, but nothing has been confirmed by Samsung so far, which preferred to let the Galaxy fans to promote the smartphone.

According to androidadvices.com, the phone will have a 4.65” AMOLED SuperPlus HD display, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, a quad-core 1.5 GHz Exynos processor, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB storage capacity and two cameras – one of 2 megapixels in front and another one of 8 megapixels capable to record in Full HD. The phone will support the 4G LTE technology, the same source adds.

The new S3 is expected to have a thickness of only 7 mm, 1 mm thinner than HTC Ville and 0.1 mm from the Moto RAZR. The phone will weigh 118 grams, will come in two colors – black and blue – and will have a battery of 1750 mAh.

The launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 will be held at Earl’s Court in London, on May 3.

  • Samsung Launches New Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy Pocket

Samsung has announced the newest handset in the Galaxy range. Samsung Galaxy Pocket, with Android 2.3 it is wanted to be an affordable smartphone. With a thickness of 11,98 mm, weighing only 97 grams and featuring a 2.8-inch display, the device remains portable, ensuring at the same time, the best viewing experience of content and images.

The updated user interface – TouchWiz – features an improved navigation system, providing handy shortcuts for the frequently used functions. Also, thanks to the improved writing function, users can easily browse the Web or write messages faster.

The device has 3GB memory for applications, MP3 files, photos and other media materials as well as an integrated FM radio, which gives the ability to listen to the favorite radio stations. The integrated high-speed Wi-Fi and the HSDPA 3.6 connectivity, provides a Web browsing experience without delay and fast downloading of multimedia content.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket provides quick sharing of content through the features responsible for communication and access to social networks. However, the platform Samsung ChatON, available in Samsung Apps, it connects all users in a single community, offering them instant messaging, group chat and content transmission in multiple formats, making communication simpler and more intuitive. At the same time, the already well-known Samsung service, Social Hub, gives users the possibility of storing messages, social networks and e-mails in a single Inbox, making the service easier to use.

We could say that these are minimum requirements for an Android smartphone. The small screen has a QVGA resolution, which does not encourage browsing the Internet. It’s 2-megapixel camera stresses the fact that Samsung Galaxy Pocket is an affordable smartphone.

In what concerns the price, the Koreans have not announced it, but say it will be very affordable. It will compete with LG Optimus L3, an entry-level smartphone recently presented at MWC 2012. On the other hand, the comparable models from Sony Ericsson and HTC come with a higher resolution screen and superior specifications.

  • Top Smartphones of 2011

The year of 2011 brought a series of major changes in the telecom industry. If at the beginning of 2011 the market started to be dominated by devices with 4-inch screens, now manufacturers already impose a new trend: devices with larger screens of up to 4.3 inches, so the potential buyer gets to a point where does not know if the terminal desired is a phone or…a smaller-sized PC tablet.

Also, in what concerns the hardware part, things have evolved incredibly in just a few months. From the 1 GHz processors used for smartphones early this year, now we can see dual-core chipsets that defy the “older” laptops.

We have tried to create a ranking of the most interesting smartphones launched in 2011. We were unable to include them all in here, but we invite you to come with proposals.

    Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2 is one of the most anticipated models of 2011. After the success of its predecessor – Samsung Galaxy S – Galaxy S2 proved to be a top follower, the real flagship of the South Koreans this year.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 screen surprises through its 4.52 inches and the AMOLED technology, while the processing power is excellent (1.5 GHz Scorpion dual-core CPU, Adreno 220 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 chipset, 1GB of RAM).

Galaxy S2 also comes with Android OS, the 8-megapizel camera with HD filming capabilities and the 16 GB storage capacity, plus the microSD slot.

    Apple iPhone 4S

Surely, Apple’s iPhone prepared for 2011 was the most rumored smartphone of this year. Fans’ expectations have been so high from the Cupertino company that, many months before the launch, there were weekly versions over the Internet about how the new iPhone 5 should look like.

But, surprise, Apple has released iPhone 4S just two days before the death of Steve Jobs, a more powerful version of the 4th generation that does not differentiate esthetically with nothing from its predecessor.

Even if it hasn’t released the iPhone 5, the “4S” aroused strong reactions of admiration from the Apple fans. iPhone 4S’s advantage is the personal assistant Siri, the first step towards adopting in daily life the Artificial Intelligence.

    Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung did not bring only the Galaxy S2 model this year. In fact, we believe it can be said that the South Korean company is the most prolific in the industry.

Through the Galaxy Note release, Samsung has imposed on the market (although Dell tried it too) a new device: the tablet phone, a device having a 5.3-inch screen and being perfectly situated in between the two concepts. It’s portable almost like a phone and provides excellent ergonomics for the use as tablet.
