  • Apple’s New iPad to be Launched in January Rumors Say

If two weeks ago a probable launch date was set for March 2012, we are now hearing that Apple has scheduled the launch of its next-generation iPad, in two versions, in January, according to sources close to the matter..

More precisely, during the iWorld event that will take place on January 26, the new tablets will be launched  and will be put up for sale along with he current line of iPad 2 – which will be cheapened and will continue to compete directly with Amazon’s Kindle Fire (currently sold at a price of $199).

In contrast, the two new models will target mid-range and high-end segments. Sources believe that both tablets will offer the same 9.7-inched dual-LED screen and QXGA resolution of 1536×2084 pixels – contrary to previous rumors that were aiming a smaller format version of only 7.85 inches.

Sharp will be the main supplier of panels for the next-generation Apple iPad series, while Samsung and LG will also be responsible for a part of the order. In the supply chain was also included Minebea, a manufacturer from which Sharp gets the backlight units (BLUs), sources stressed.

Apple continues its contract with Samsung for the production of quad-core A6 processors, which will be used in the next-generation iPad – unlike the current iPad 2 based on dual-core A5 processors.

Samsung is also among the suppliers for the CMOS image sensor used in the first of the new versions of iPad, which comes with a 5-megapixel lens. Another Apple supplier for image sensors will be Sony, namely for the model with an 8-megapixel lens.

Finally, Simplo Technology and Dynapack International Technology will supply batteries for the new tablets – with a double capacity than those used in iPad 2.

  • Apple Launches Two New Smartphones in 2011: iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S

Apple is about to launch this year two new smartphones – iPhone 4S and the new generation iPhone 5, said Mark Moskowitz, an analyst at JP Morgan. According to his sources, iPad 3’s launch would be postponed to 2012.

Moskowitz said, in a statement quoted by Techspot, the new iPhone 5 will be thinner and lighter than the previous models. Among other things, iPhone 5 will have an 8-megapixel camera and will support CDMA and GSM, but not DNLA.

However, the analyst’s statements come to confirm previous announcements made by the most important technology magazines. According to TechRadar, iPhone 5 will be launched in Europe, on October 15 within the Orange network. The new smartphone would include iCloud technology that allows user to store online music, movies and other files. In addition, the new iPhone 5 is expected to be charged wirelessly.

Regarding the long-awaited iPhone 5, it seems that it will have a bigger display than its predecessors and will be thinner. Information seems to be confirmed by the several models of cases that have already appeared all over the internet. The phone will be available in two versions, black and white, 16 and 32 GB, respectively.

Regarding the iPhone 4S, this would be launched simultaneously with the 5th generation and will be designed especially for emerging markets like China. The phone will bring a series of improvements, but not up to the 5th generation.

About the 4S model, Engadget wrote that it had already appeared in the internal network of the U.S. telecom operator AT&T. iPhone 4S is basically an iPhone 4 with minor improvements, and those from Apple will promote it through a very competitive price.

Beyond the expectations for the launch of the new iPhone models, the analyst at JP Morgan said the new generation of iPhones would be rescheduled for March next year, mainly for the reason iPad 2 records spectacular sales.

  • Apple Prepares the Next iPhone for September

Apple prepares for September the launch of a new iPhone 5 which will have a more powerful processor and an advanced video camera, said two sources close to the situation.

The phone will be equipped with the A5 processor of the iPad 2, and an 8-megapixel camera, compared to the 5-megapixel on the iPhone 4, said the sources, adding that Apple is also testing a new version of the iPad tablet, which boasts a higher resolution screen.

Apple representatives declined to comment on this information.

A faster chip will allow faster processing of data and will strengthen iPhone’s market position in relation with the smartphones launched by rival companies such as Samsung and HTC using Google’s Android platform.

The new Apple phone will run the iOS 5, recently introduced by the company at a WWDC conference. The system has improved messaging features and photo-sharing and can run on all Apple mobile gadgets. By the end of last year, the iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch were using slightly different versions of the iOS.

The company has delayed the introduction of the fifth iPhone to coincide with the launch of the iOS 5, said the sources.

The iPhone is Apple's best selling product, generating half of the revenues in the last quarter.

Market research firm, IDC, estimates that the smartphone market will reach one billion units sold by the end of 2015. The IDC also predicts that Apple will have a market share of 18.2% this year compared to 38.9% for Android phones.

Apple is close to completing a cheaper and smaller version of the iPhone for consumers in emerging countries, the sources added. This gadget would use chips and screens close to the current seen on iPhone 4.
