  • MWC 2010: Interview with Ross Garrett of Aepona

    Aepona provides software products and service delivery solutions to Telcos globally, allowing them to emerge in the NaaS business model and unleash the full potential of their network assets.

    The company won the GSMA Global Mobile Award in 2008 and this year they were yet short listed for the award due to their launch of the world’s first commercial implementation of OneAPI.

    Santok is a consumer electronics solutions provider; they offer solutions for mobile phones, laptops and iPods. At the Mobile World Congress they launched their new eco friendly packaging made from recyclable materials.

    William Howard showed us some of the solutions they have available for iPhones; back up batteries and battery enhancers amongst many other.

    They offer solutions for all types of smartphones which are available in the UK, Central Europe and on-line.

    BYD is a Chinese company that was present at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for the first time.

    The company specializes on the IT and auto industries, within their product base they work on the design and decoration for mobile phones as well as on the cell phone assembly business.

    Hanson Chan told us about what they were presenting at the Congress; he also mentioned that it was being a complete success for the company with lots of interesting meetings scheduled.

  • MWC 2010: Interview with Brett Stevens, CTO of NetComm

    NetComm is a developer of broadband internet products and services. They offer a diverse broadband product portfolio addressing business, consumer, industrial and specialized vertical industries.

    At the Mobile World Congress they were presenting what is claimed to be the world’s fastest HSPA+ embedded router. 3G21WN “BlackJack” is the first embedded router of its kind to operate at 21Mbps using the HSPA+ standard, as well as being a fully-functioning 11n wireless router with four Ethernet ports.

  • MWC 2010: Interview with Lukas Koukl of Jablocom

    At the Mobile World Congress we met with Lukas Koukl, Sales Manager at Jablocom, a Czech company that develops, produces and delivers GSM communication solutions.

    Providers in more than 20 countries use Jablocom’s GSM Desktop Phones for supporting services offered to residential customers (HomeZone, @Home, Zu Hause) as well as services focused on business customers (Virtual PBX, Wireless Office).

    Jablocom’s GSM Security Camera EYE-02 brings advanced security features into do-it-yourself market. It sends pictures from incidents through standard GSM data services – MMS, e-mail or web.


  • HTC Disagrees With Apple’s Actions

    HTC yesterday outlined its disagreement with Apple’s legal actions. Earlier this month Apple sued HTC for infringing 20 iPhone patents.

    “HTC disagrees with Apple’s actions and will fully defend itself. HTC strongly advocates intellectual property protection and will continue to respect other innovators and their technologies as we have always done, but we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation as a healthy way for consumers to get the best mobile experience possible,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC.

    He added that from day one, HTC has focused on creating “cutting-edge innovations that deliver unique value for people looking for a smartphone.”

    “In 1999 we started designing the XDA and T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition, our first touch-screen smartphones, and they both shipped in 2002 with more than 50 additional HTC smartphone models shipping since then,” he said.

    In 2009, HTC launched its branded user experience, HTC Sense. “HTC Sense is focused on putting people at the center by making phones work in a more simple and natural way,” says the company. According to them, this experience was fundamentally based on listening and observing how people live and communicate.

    “HTC has always taken a partnership-oriented, collaborative approach to business. This has led to long-standing strategic partnerships with the top software, Internet and wireless technology companies in the industry as well as the top U.S., European and Asian mobile operators,” said Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC America.

  • VoLGA Significantly Outperforms Call-Setup Times

    Recent Voice over LTE testing confirms that VoLGA (Voice over LTE via Generic Access) outperforms current 3G network call-setup times by nearly 40 percent.

    At the Mobile World Congress we talked to Steven Shaw, VP of Marketing at Kineto. They were demonstrating its VoLGA solution that delivers call-setup times even up to 65 percent faster than alternative LTE voice technologies.

    Kineto also provides software and services to major wireless infrastructure and handset vendors so they can deliver smart offload solutions based on Wi-Fi and Femtocell technologies.

  • IPsmarx Introduces IP-PBX And SIP Trunking To Its “All In One” Solution

    IPsmarx has just announced the addition of a Multi-level IP-PBX and SIP trunking to its integrated VoIP softswitch/billing platform.

    According to the company, it’s a “complete solution for competitive service providers” to offer the portfolio of services demanded by the Small Mediums Business market.

    The Multi-level IP-PBX supports popular capabilities such as voicemail, unified messaging, auto attendant, DID management, E-911 and a host of calling features such as call waiting, call forwarding, 3-way calling, shared line appearances, Follow me services and more.

    Ipsmarx says this single integrated softswitch application server „allows service providers to simplify the management of customer accounts and reduce operations costs, while providing rich billing, reporting and invoicing functions, all in a single platform with the reliability and scalability not found in open source, or low end solutions.”

    The new solution of IPsmarx allows service providers to offer SIP Trunking to SMBs needing multiple channels for SIP connectivity of their premise-based PBXs. It also provides support for SOHO businesses and residential access with a complete set of Class 5 services.

    It has unified customer management console with web access for online account management. This allows service provider network administrators, customer service reps and resellers to create multiple rate plans and unlimited minutes packages.

    IPsmarx assures that end user customers are provided with access to their own system, allowing self-service extension management, extension group management, extension range flexibility, flexible auto attendant routing, direct phone number assignment and DID assignment.

    The system also offers integrated marketing capabilities: its promotion marketing system includes an integrated email platform to cross-promote services. It supports multi-lingual IVR, as well as multiple currencies. There is also an e-store function that includes a user portal, customizable features, automated sign up, and online payment processes.
