  • MWC 2010: Interview with Ross Garrett of Aepona

    Aepona provides software products and service delivery solutions to Telcos globally, allowing them to emerge in the NaaS business model and unleash the full potential of their network assets.

    The company won the GSMA Global Mobile Award in 2008 and this year they were yet short listed for the award due to their launch of the world’s first commercial implementation of OneAPI.

    Santok is a consumer electronics solutions provider; they offer solutions for mobile phones, laptops and iPods. At the Mobile World Congress they launched their new eco friendly packaging made from recyclable materials.

    William Howard showed us some of the solutions they have available for iPhones; back up batteries and battery enhancers amongst many other.

    They offer solutions for all types of smartphones which are available in the UK, Central Europe and on-line.

    BYD is a Chinese company that was present at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for the first time.

    The company specializes on the IT and auto industries, within their product base they work on the design and decoration for mobile phones as well as on the cell phone assembly business.

    Hanson Chan told us about what they were presenting at the Congress; he also mentioned that it was being a complete success for the company with lots of interesting meetings scheduled.

  • MWC 2010: Interview with Brett Stevens, CTO of NetComm

    NetComm is a developer of broadband internet products and services. They offer a diverse broadband product portfolio addressing business, consumer, industrial and specialized vertical industries.

    At the Mobile World Congress they were presenting what is claimed to be the world’s fastest HSPA+ embedded router. 3G21WN “BlackJack” is the first embedded router of its kind to operate at 21Mbps using the HSPA+ standard, as well as being a fully-functioning 11n wireless router with four Ethernet ports.

    At the Mobile World Congress we met with Lukas Koukl, Sales Manager at Jablocom, a Czech company that develops, produces and delivers GSM communication solutions.

    Providers in more than 20 countries use Jablocom’s GSM Desktop Phones for supporting services offered to residential customers (HomeZone, @Home, Zu Hause) as well as services focused on business customers (Virtual PBX, Wireless Office).

    Jablocom’s GSM Security Camera EYE-02 brings advanced security features into do-it-yourself market. It sends pictures from incidents through standard GSM data services – MMS, e-mail or web.


  • VoLGA Significantly Outperforms Call-Setup Times

    Recent Voice over LTE testing confirms that VoLGA (Voice over LTE via Generic Access) outperforms current 3G network call-setup times by nearly 40 percent.

    At the Mobile World Congress we talked to Steven Shaw, VP of Marketing at Kineto. They were demonstrating its VoLGA solution that delivers call-setup times even up to 65 percent faster than alternative LTE voice technologies.

    Kineto also provides software and services to major wireless infrastructure and handset vendors so they can deliver smart offload solutions based on Wi-Fi and Femtocell technologies.
